Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired a special meeting on Thursday to review and follow up on the implementation of development projects in Al-Kadhimiya.
The session assessed completed service projects and ongoing infrastructure developments, including the construction of 38 new school buildings and the rehabilitation of dozens of existing schools.
Discussions covered reconstruction and rehabilitation plans, as well as relocating government offices outside the city in line with the Prime Minister’s directives. Progress was also reviewed on service areas, park development, sewerage projects, recreational areas, and bridges, many of which are nearing completion.
The meeting further addressed steps taken to open the military zone in the Shu’ba Al-Khamisa area, in line with a Council of Ministers’ decision.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized the importance of Al-Kadhimiya’s reconstruction efforts, given its role as a major religious and tourism destination that welcomes millions of pilgrims annually. He stressed the need for a focused and intensified approach to development, reaffirming that Al-Kadhimiya’s reconstruction is a government priority within Baghdad’s service and development sectors, ensuring equitable development across the city.
