The Iraqi Ministry of Planning held a joint meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations team in Iraq to finalise the draft cooperation framework for sustainable development covering 2025 to 2029.
Dr. Saher Abdul-Kadhim, Director General of the International Cooperation Department, said the meeting continued prior discussions to unify a vision reflecting Iraq’s national priorities and to strengthen future cooperation with UN agencies.
The draft document aims to serve as a strategic tool organising technical and development cooperation between Iraq and the UN system. It aligns with Iraq’s national development plan 2024-2028 and the UN Sustainable Development Agenda.
Final approval will be sought through a cabinet decision, authorising Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Dr. Mohammed Ali Tamim, to sign the agreement on behalf of the Iraqi government.
