Central Bank of Iraq in Talks with Electronic Payment Providers

The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) has held an expanded meeting in Baghdad with the managing directors of licensed electronic payment service providers operating in Iraq. The meeting was chaired by CBI Governor Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq.

According to the Central Bank of Iraq, discussions covered:

  • Technical, administrative, and regulatory challenges facing electronic payment companies
  • Future plans to improve financial services and support digital transformation
  • Compliance with CBI regulatory guidelines and instructions
  • Upgrading infrastructure and technical systems in line with international standards and best practices
  • Initiatives to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of digital financial services

The meeting forms part of the CBI’s ongoing efforts to regulate and develop the financial technology sector and support financial inclusion.
