Iraq’s Ministry of Planning has held a joint meeting with Germany’s Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to discuss strengthening development co-operation and advancing ongoing joint projects.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters, was attended by GIZ’s country director and his technical team. The ministry was represented by the Director-General of the Department of International Co-operation, Dr Saher Abd Al-Kadhim Mahdi, along with representatives from the Department of Regional and Local Development and the Department of Government Investment Programmes.
Discussions covered the requirements for completing projects currently under way, responses to outstanding queries, and follow-up on replies from supporting ministries and sectoral institutions. The meeting also addressed new projects that GIZ intends to implement in co-operation with the Planning Ministry and relevant sectoral ministries.
Dr Mahdi said Germany is a key partner in delivering projects that contribute to sustainable development in Iraq, and emphasised the importance of continuing bilateral meetings with international partners.
