Third Phase of Al-Rasheed Street Rehabilitation

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired a special meeting on Monday to review progress on the third phase of the Al-Rasheed Street rehabilitation project.

The session included the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) and representatives from the Iraqi Private Banks League (IPBL), reflecting the government’s commitment to restoring Baghdad’s historic landmarks.

Key Discussions:

• Legal & financial mechanisms for funding the project.

• Smooth transfer of funds from the CBI, donor entities, and state institutions to the implementing agency under the Iraqi Private Banks League’s oversight.

• Business & cultural preservation, ensuring engagement with local business owners to maintain the street’s historical identity post-rehabilitation.

• Alternative locations for large storage facilities and commercial shops.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani instructed that the project be completed within a short timeframe, adhering to the highest standards.
