IBBC and UAE-UK BC agree on mutual partnership arrangements.
The UAE-UK Business Council and IBBC have agreed to partner each other on a mutual basis. The two organisations have overlapping memberships and very similar values and objectives, and are at heart, British in origin.
The IBBC will be an honorary member of UAE-UKBC, and can be found on the members page.
Several UK companies use the UAE as their springboard into Iraq, and UAE corporates (such as Crescent Petroleum) are also increasing their activity in Iraq.
Both organisations offer a thought leadership forum that brings together senior business representatives, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders from both UAE and Iraq to identify and help to resolve barriers to trade and investment between the two countries. Through campaigns, events and policy papers we seek to highlight emerging trends and opportunities for closer commercial collaboration.
The IBBC and the UAE-UK Business Council work in partnership with the Iraqi, UAE and UK Governments, and through the leadership of Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, The Rt Hon Lord Udny-Lister and HE Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh they provide strategic advice to those Governments on the interests and concerns of member companies and the wider business community.
IBBC and UAE-UK are guided by an Advisory Committee of eminent business leaders and academics and funded entirely by members who are supported by a Joint Secretariat (based in both countries) that represents the interests of both UAE and UK member companies and stakeholders.
The Secretariat delivers campaigns and events and prepares policy papers that are submitted to both Governments for consideration. We also help to deliver on the goals of both governments to strengthen the bilateral trade and investment relationship.
Bradley Jones, executive Director of UAE-UK Business Council says:
“Our organisations have many members and issues in common, and we share very similar activities and concerns over trade in our respective countries, it makes sense to collaborate more closely with IBBC and support each other mutually where appropriate and to all our benefit.”
Christophe Michels, MD of IBBC says:
“IBBC International members HQ’s are often based in the UAE, and we have held our Autumn conference’s there for this purpose. However, with a resurgent Iraq, it’s clear most leading Iraqi directors and corporates already have a foothold in the UAE and as Iraqi businesses seek to expand internationally, it makes sense for us to work more closely with fellow business councils like UAE-UK in the region. IBBC is happy to support British companies based in the UAA who want to do business sin Iraq now that Iraq is opening up and its economy is expanding. Mutual good will come of it.”
