The second batch of US-made Bell 505 helicopters arrived at Martyr Brigadier General Mohammed Alaa Air Base this week.
The delivery of eight helicopters follows directives from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to enhance and modernise the capabilities of Iraq’s military forces across all branches.
According to a Ministry of Defense statement, the acquisition is part of its ongoing plan to upgrade its military aviation systems, improve flight training efficiency, and strengthen combat readiness in line with the operational needs of Iraqi Army pilots.
The first batch of seven Bell 505 aircraft were delivered in August 2024.

وصلت الدفعة الثانية من طائرات الهليكوبتر الأمريكية الصنع بيل 505 إلى قاعدة الشهيد اللواء محمد علاء الجوية هذا الأسبوع.
تأتي عملية التسليم المكونة من ثماني طائرات هليكوبتر تنفيذاً لتوجيهات القائد العام للقوات المسلحة لتعزيز وتحديث قدرات القوات العسكرية العراقية في جميع الفروع.
وبحسب بيان لوزارة الدفاع، فإن هذا التزويد يأتي ضمن خطتها المستمرة لترقية أنظمة الطيران العسكري، وتحسين كفاءة التدريب على الطيران، وتعزيز الجاهزية القتالية بما يتماشى مع الاحتياجات التشغيلية لطيّاري الجيش العراقي.
تم تسليم الدفعة الأولى المكونة من سبع طائرات بيل 505 في أغسطس 2024.
