Cabinet Committee Meets to Support Women’s Economic Empowerment in Agriculture and Environment

The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers has held the first meeting of the committee supporting women’s economic empowerment in the agricultural and environmental sectors.

The committee was formed under Diwani Order No. 89 of 2025, and the meeting was held at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. The Deputy Secretary‑General of the Council of Ministers and committee chair, Othman Ibrahim al‑Jahishi, called for the preparation of an executive action plan.

During the meeting, al‑Jahishi urged the Ministry of Agriculture and the banking sector to take a number of measures, including:

  • Allocating land suitable for agricultural and industrial investment.
  • Providing soft loans to women.
  • Supporting the establishment and expansion of small projects.
  • Integrating women‑led projects into the agricultural and industrial sectors.

The Director General of the National Directorate for Iraqi Women, Yusra Karim Mohsen, presented an overview of the women’s economic empowerment project, confirming that an executive plan would be prepared within three months.

The plan will include banking initiatives, assessments of the agricultural sector, and logistical support, and will cover the period from 2026 to 2029.

The meeting also reviewed women‑led activities and projects, including agricultural initiatives implemented by the Holy Karbala Shrine.

The session concluded with recommendations aimed at strengthening women’s economic participation in line with government policy.

لجنة وزارية تبحث دعم التمكين الاقتصادي للمرأة في القطاعين الزراعي والبيئي

عقدت الأمانة العامة لمجلس الوزراء الاجتماع الأول للجنة دعم التمكين الاقتصادي للمرأة في القطاعين الزراعي والبيئي.

وشُكّلت اللجنة بموجب الأمر الديواني رقم (89) لسنة 2025، وعُقد الاجتماع في مقر الأمانة العامة لمجلس الوزراء. ودعا نائب الأمين العام لمجلس الوزراء ورئيس اللجنة، عثمان إبراهيم الجحيشي، إلى إعداد خطة عمل تنفيذية.

وخلال الاجتماع، حثّ الجحيشي وزارة الزراعة والقطاع المصرفي على اتخاذ عدد من الإجراءات، من بينها:

  • تخصيص أراضٍ صالحة للاستثمار الزراعي والصناعي.
  • توفير قروض ميسّرة للنساء.
  • دعم إنشاء وتوسيع المشاريع الصغيرة.
  • إدماج المشاريع التي تقودها النساء ضمن القطاعين الزراعي والصناعي.

وقدمت المديرة العامة للدائرة الوطنية للمرأة العراقية، يسرى كريم محسن، عرضاً عن مشروع التمكين الاقتصادي للمرأة، مؤكدةً أن الخطة التنفيذية سيتم إعدادها خلال مدة لا تتجاوز ثلاثة أشهر.

وستتضمن الخطة مبادرات مصرفية وتقييماً للقطاع الزراعي ودعماً لوجستياً، وستغطي المدة من عام 2026 إلى عام 2029.

كما جرى خلال الاجتماع استعراض الأنشطة والمشاريع التي تقودها النساء، بما في ذلك المبادرات الزراعية التي ينفذها العتبة الحسينية المقدسة في كربلاء.

واختُتم الاجتماع بتوصيات تهدف إلى تعزيز المشاركة الاقتصادية للمرأة بما ينسجم مع السياسة الحكومية.
