Chinese Firm Wins Major Contract at West Qurna-1
The China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Company (HQC), a subsidiary of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), has reportedly signed a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract for the West Qurna-1 oilfield.
According to sina.com.cn, this is CNPC’s largest overseas service contract since 2020.
In January 2024, PetroChina, also a subsidiary of CNPC, took over from ExxonMobil as main operator, following ExxonMobil’s divestment of its remain interest in the field to Basra Oil Company (BOC) and Pertamina.

أفادت التقارير أن شركة هوانكيو الصينية للمقاولات والهندسة (HQC)، التابعة لمؤسسة البترول الوطنية الصينية (CNPC)، وقّعت عقدًا لاستشارات إدارة مشروع حقل غرب القرنة-1 النفطي.

ووفقًا لموقع sina.com.cn، يُعد هذا أكبر عقد خدمات خارجي لشركة CNPC منذ عام 2020.

في يناير 2024، تولّت شركة بتروتشاينا، التابعة أيضًا لمؤسسة البترول الوطنية الصينية، مسؤولية تشغيل الحقل من شركة إكسون موبيل، وذلك بعد أن باعت إكسون موبيل حصتها المتبقية في الحقل لشركة نفط البصرة وشركة بيرتامينا.
